Yes, every since Buster Keaton and Lester Young sported this unconventional fedora, it's been an icon of American culture.   Gene Hackman made it more famous in the movie The French Connection and more recently it was featured on the TV show Breaking Bad. The crown  crease is called a telescope crease since it looks like the glass popping out of the telescope.  The brim varies.  Here's the Darron by Bailey which comes in a 1 1/2 " brim.
